The primary aim of the seminary is to prepare young men to become future priests through holistic human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation within the religious and cultural context of North India. It nurtures in candidates a missionary spirit and zeal for souls, equipping them to live the Gospel values by fostering a deep relationship with Christ, always mindful of the profound call: Ego te vocavi, tu es meus (“ I have called you; you are mine ”).
In the academic year 2024-2025, our seminary has 67 students from 18 dioceses and religious congregations, comprising 62 resident students and 5-day scholars. The Institute consists of 36 teachers: 19 permanent and 17 non-permanent. We have a well-equipped library. Classifications of books are done following the Dewey Decimal system. The library has separate reference hall to provide a reading space with Encyclopedias and Dictionaries made available for easy reference. The students are always encouraged to read as many books possible before the completion of their studies. As per now we have above 22,400 books, 37 Magazines and 7 Newspapers. Computerizing of the library books is complete, and the students can search the availability of the books from the library computer.
The seminary organizes various events and activities to foster growth in human spiritual and intellectual and pastoral dimensions preparing the candidates for the future ministry. Some of the common activities are weekly Academies and Samities, Inter-class and Inter-group cultural and sports competitions, monthly recollection, annual retreat, etc. These undertaking enable the formee to acquire leadership and pastoral skills and mission zeal so that they can serve the church and the society.
Social Media ministry in the seminary aims to train future priests to effectively engage with and serve people in today’s digital world. Through structured workshops and practical projects, seminarians learn to use social media platforms to share the Gospel, promote faith-based events, and foster a sense of community online. This ministry equips them to reach diverse audiences, communicate Church teachings clearly, and respond compassionately to questions of faith, preparing them to serve as trusted voices and guides in the digital age.

Philosophy is very important in seminary training because it helps students understand basic questions about existence, morality, and truth, which deepens their theological knowledge. It develops critical thinking skills, allowing seminarians to analyze complex theological and ethical issues effectively. By promoting a conversation between faith and reason, philosophy enables them to express and defend their beliefs clearly. Moreover, it improves their understanding of human experiences and cultural contexts, bringing together different areas of knowledge needed for successful pastoral ministry.
The theological studies deepen understanding of God’s revelation and the Church’s teachings, fostering a personal and communal relationship with God and the Church; thus, equipping seminarians to preach effectively, to administer the sacraments and right providing pastoral care to God’s people. Through rigorous study, future priests learn to engage with contemporary issues and respond to the spiritual and pastoral needs of their communities. Thus, theology forms them into faithful shepherds, guiding the faithful in their journey of faith and discipleship.
The pastoral courses and pastoral ministry within seminary formation are designed to prepare seminarians for the practical aspects of ministry, to equip future priests with the skills necessary for effective pastoral care, enabling them to respond to the diverse needs of their communities. They are designed in such a way that the candidates integrate theological knowledge with practical experience, allowing them to embody the Church’s mission.
