The Academic Year 2024-2025 was inaugurated on Wednesday, 3rd July, 2024. It was a significant occasion, celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm, particularly as it coincided with the Solemnity of St. Thomas, the Apostle of India. This day was marked not only the beginning of a new academic journey for the seminarians but also it served as a reminder of the rich spiritual heritage and mission of the Church in India.

The day commenced with a solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Ignatius Mascarenhas, the bishop of the diocese of Simla-Chandigarh. The presence of the bishops of the region added to the solemnity and significance to the occasion. During the Mass, special prayers were offered for the brothers and staff members of the seminary, invoking blessings for their spiritual growth and academic endeavours in the year ahead.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the community gathered in the seminary auditorium for a Schola Brevis, an academic presentation designed to foster intellectual engagement and dialogue among seminarians. Fr. Ajay Khalkho, the professor of philosophy, delivered an insightful presentation on the theme “The Relationship Between Mindfulness and Stress among Catholic Religious Formees.” This topic was particularly relevant in today’s fast-paced world, where the pressures of academic and spiritual formation could lead to heightened stress levels. Fr. Khalkho’s exploration of mindfulness as a tool for managing stress provided valuable perspectives for the audience, encouraging them to cultivate mindfulness in their daily lives and in their spiritual journey. The Schola Brevis was moderated by Bishop Deepak Valerian Tauro, the auxiliary bishop of Delhi, who facilitated an engaging discussion.

On the same day, the General Body meeting of HTRMS was convened to discuss important administrative matters. The inaugural ceremony set a positive tone for the year, emphasizing the importance of mindfulness, community, and shared purpose in the formation of future leaders within the Church.
